The artist has donated the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the Music Venues Trust, which works to protect the UK's grassroots music venues.

The star was presented with the prize on October 16 as his latest record People Watching was declared the top album of the past year.

He has opted to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages fulfilled in his early career.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing what I am doing today if it wasn't for all the shows I performed around the area, and further afield, when I was just getting going," remarked Sam Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these venues have shut down – approximately one-sixth of the total UK scene.

In the last year, major artists like Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to support the industry, by adding a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which benefits smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also took part, collecting over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to support 38 small stages across the UK.

These funds supported venues that were facing imminent closure due to difficulties arising from water damage, blazes and personal losses, as well as permit problems, court cases and neighbor objections.

Other venues obtained financial assistance in upgrading amenities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted artists and concertgoers.

"The concept that revenue from shows in major spaces helps the smaller venues, where it all starts for artists like me, is just logical," the star has stated.

During 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite shared her prize across multiple organizations, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"Additionally, I gave a thousand pounds to the center, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked better apparatus," the artist shared with a publication.

Two years ago, they donated their winnings to the community center that developed their group, as well as other grassroots music organisations.

Also the 1994 recipients they donated their prize to a MS organization after a close contact was identified with the illness.

"The victory was ample," stated artist the singer. "The prize was the extra but we didn't need the extra, because we had the main prize. So our success impacted somebody else's life."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had protected a couple of small stages in south-east England, by bringing them into local control.

The Joiners in that area and the second in the city were purchased under the public acquisition program, which is backed by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "ownership units" in the properties.
